Therapy Style

When we need support, it can be intimidating to know where to start. You may be feeling trapped by the past and overwhelmed by the future, struggling with self-doubt, or experiencing loneliness. To overcome feeling lost and stuck, therapy can help you figure out your options, learn more about yourself, and find new ways to cope.  By beginning the search for therapy, you have already shown courage and self-awareness to recognize you are ready for change.

Your story is as unique as your strengths and abilities.  I will strive to empower you to pursue your passions, achieve your goals, and celebrate your talents. My commitment is to provide you with the tools to thrive, not just survive.

You deserve the opportunity to write and transform your story. Let’s begin a new chapter today.

About Me

My name is Caitlin Tupper (she/her/hers) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of CAT Counseling. I earned my Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Social Work at Michigan State University.

As a queer woman, my approach to therapy is trauma-informed, sex-positive, and anti-oppressive. I tailor my practice to each person and integrate varying styles of therapy to meet your needs, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy.

I have over a decade of experience working with people living with anxiety, depression, and burnout. In serving survivors of abuse and violence, I supported them in their recovery and healing from trauma.  I have partnered with clients on their journey to build meaningful relationships and to explore their gender and sexuality.

My initials also spell CAT and yes, I have a great love for my feline companions.

Pillars of My Practice

Compassion

Often it is easier for us to offer care to those we love rather than direct it towards ourselves. I will be by your side as you learn to cultivate compassion within yourself and recognize your worth. In our work together, I will listen to you empathically and non-judgementally.

Authenticity

Living your life authentically – true to your passions, your voice, your identities-is liberating and powerful. Demonstrating your authenticity can also inspire others to be genuine and vulnerable. I strive to create a welcoming space for you to show up as your whole self.

Transformation

I believe in the power of change and that everyone can continue to evolve towards the best versions of themselves. Therapy can be a catalyst for you to develop your skills, enhance your self-confidence, and continue your healing journey.
